Shave and Save Your Dream

Sharing is Caring !!

About two years ago when I was working in Bangalore most of my friends started job search to make a switch. I also started the search journey thinking the change will be good. I had a few companies in mind which I would call my dream work place.

So after preparing a decent resume, I started uploading in job portals and also in career Web page of my favorite dream companies.

One fine day I got a call from my dream company and to my surprise they told my CV was short listed for a technical round as a telephonic interview later that week followed by Face to face HR interview in weekend if I clear the previous round.

I was so excited. I prepared day and night skimming Web pages and study materials to prepare myself for the interview. The day finally arrived and I was checking my mobile for call notification every 2 minutes. When the mobile Rang, I took it immediately and the call went for about an hour.

That went well. I did answer many of the questions correctly. Before ending the call I asked the interviewer how did I fare? . He said I did well and I will be getting a call/ mail soon. I was overwhelmed.

Still I had to wait for two weeks to get the follow up email. The waiting period was killing. But the joy of getting the email over powered it. In the mail it was mentioned to reach the office on following weekend for a face to face interview with HR.

All of my friends and colleagues congratulated me saying HR interview is just a formality, you have got your dream job. Well done. I couldn’t control my joy. It was like being on cloud nine.

Days passed by very slowly and finally it was Saturday morning, time to go for HR interview. I got myself ready, took a ironed pair of jeans and Polo tee and took off to the venue with excitement.

After reaching I was made to sit out and wait outside a conference room. Then someone came out and called my name. I went in. Shook hands with the HR and took my seat. I answered each question thrown at me politely. All of a sudden she asked a question “We are looking for a complete professional candidate, you look way to casual. Will you be able to handle it?” I was shell shocked and couldn’t gave a instant answer. She then responded “You couldn’t even find time to shave your beard for an interview. Is this an attitude you will keep during a client visit? “. I couldn’t answer a thing as I wasn’t expecting this kind of question. She then said we will update you through email later.

It’s been years and still I haven’t received an email. I felt to complacent and paid the price for it by getting rejected in my dream job.

Cave men had beards because They didn’t have the luxury of Gillette. We modern men have the advanced technology razors from Gillette. Use it. Shave and save your dream.

Stop Bullying and end Ragging – #AbMontuBolega

Sharing is Caring !!

Bullying and Ragging is so prevalent in India that it is treated as part of school days and colleges. This needs to be removed from the roots. Bullying and Ragging may sound funny and make people laugh, but it leaves scars too deep for the person who is bullied. There are various adverse efforts of bullying . There are also many incidents in the past suggest  that, these have led to such end that people have committed suicide. Let me list down some of the bad effects due to bullying and ragging.

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Feelings of sadness and loneliness
  • Loss of interest in activities
  • Inferiority complexion
  • Feeling isolated even when there is a crowd
  • Spending a lot of time trying to figure out what to do or where to go to avoid being harassed.
  • Thinking your parents would be worried or upset if you told them.
  • Health issues leading to headache and stress
  • Starting to think that maybe the insults are true and wondering if it’s your own fault.
  • Having mood swings.
  • Wishing you could talk to someone but you are not sure what you want to say.
  • Feeling trapped, helpless, withdrawn.
  • Notice that these feelings are causing you to be unhappy at home & you are feeling short tempered with your parents and siblings.

These things can lead to self harm and growing up, it becomes harder to trust others and make new friends. In some extreme cases people become suicidal.

How to Stop This:

It all starts during the adolescence when everyone starts to think how life’s goes on and gets into lots of physical and emotional changes. Life isn’t a bed of roses and has ups and down for everyone. As they say the change must start within, everyone must pledge to keep their well being even when they are going through stress / tension.

  • Keep a role model who you can admire and follow.
  • Reach out to your parents/mentors. They are here to guide & help you.
  • Eat , sleep, play and find balance between all these things.
  • Always look for opportunities to reach your potential.
  • Feel free to express yourself.
  • If you see someone bullying others, don’t be a bystander, act and stop it.

Indian Government has launched  National Anti-Ragging Helpline to prevent this.

  1. Students who are being bullied/ragged can send a mail to  helpline@antiragging.in to register their complaint
  2. There is also a helpline number 1800-180-5522 which can be called at any time to file a complaint

Lets all raise our voice and stop this menace and make India more Cleaner and better.

Flying High in Awe

Sharing is Caring !!

Ever since my childhood I have always wanted to fly among the clouds and feel it. I think many of us felt the same. I wonder that is what made wright brothers to invent and master the first flight of human history in the year 1905.

wright-flight-awe

Their first made airplane was huge but could afford only two people in it and they had a huge task to pilot the plane too.  Only in the year 1908 the first passenger has successfully made his first flight in human history. Technology has increased leaps and bounds in the past 10 decades that we have space shuttles and vehicles which can even go to neighboring planets. But still the passenger limit per commercial plane was limited. Then came the Airbus A380 a humongous flying machine which has 40% more seating capacity than the next big commercial airliner. It began its first flight in 2005 with a seating capacity ranging from 525 to 800. Now when it takes off its like a mini village flying around 🙂

We all know Lufthansa the German Giant is the largest airliner in Europe. They carry over 100 million passengers to over 200 destinations world wide per year. They also sponsor one of the biggest football club in the world Bayern Munich. India is the second most populous country in the world with a population of 1.2 billion. Now all these points to things which are BIGGER.

Bigger is Better:

bigger-better-banner

We often heard the saying that Bigger is better. Now let us see how that applies in here. INDIA being one of the biggest country in terms of population and Lufthansa being biggest airliner in Europe and Airbus A380 Biggest commercial flight in the world. When all these three join together its becomes more than BETTER, it becomes the BEST. Let me jot down some points so everyone can come to same conclusion.

  1. It offers more people to travel at the same time without having to bother about connecting/multi stop flights.
  2. Airbus offers world class comfort paired with Lufthansa’s luxury and class the passengers get a class apart hospitality and experience.
  3. Indian families are huge, and with 500 to 800 seating capacity, now everyone can travel together. (Eg: Ziona  Family from Mizoram , India has 181 members in total and counting)
  4. Bigger the plane, the more the legroom is. Its all about comfort and convenience.
  5. Bid Goodbye to Jet-lag & Body pains.
  6. The ticket cost for Economy class is only around 35k to 40k. Its dead cheap when you think of the luxury you are getting. For Business Class its around 80k to 90k and for First class service its 130 to 140k.
  7. Its LUFTHANSA – they offer the highest level of comfort and lets you travel elegantly.
  8. We INDIANS love BIG in everything, be it discount, home, salary etc 😛

Lufthansa has graced us with the launch of Airbus A380 in India from 8th of November 2014. It now operates from Delhi – Frankfurt and vice versa.

This is surely a dawn of new era in Indian Aviation for above stated reasons.

Look at the excitement during the inaugural flight of Lufthansa’s Airbus A380 in India beautifully captured in the time lapse video.

Why waiting? Check the timetable,  book your tickets , fly in luxury and start exploring Germany 🙂

Its time to fly in this Green Giant #LufthansaA380. Come Be a part of it !!

Ouija – Movie Review

Sharing is Caring !!

image

Ouija is a horror film released few months ago in Hollywood. It doesn’t star big names of Hollywood but has a decent cast with small screen fame.

It is a typical Hollywood horror movie which follows the conventional plot with flashbacks and cliché scares for the audience.

The movie is about two friends,  one of whom mysteriously commits suicide and the other one tries to investigate along with the boyfriend and what follows in the movie is completely predictable.

The soundtrack is dull and doesn’t do good for the movie.  The casting and acting is average.

Overall the movie doesn’t offer anything new which has already been explored in horror genre. This can be skipped.

My Verdict : 2 out of 5 stars (2 / 5)

Guardians of the galaxy – Review

Sharing is Caring !!

Guardians of galaxy is the most recent flick from marvel studio based on the comic by same name.  I had the privilege to watch it in fdfs when it released in India also I had a chance to watch it in Blu-ray yesterday.

Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_43660

The film starts on a sad note with a kid being taken away from his dying mother and family. But picks up pace and becomes a non stop entertainer.

The casting is perfect and each role is done with perfection. The CGI is top notch and Rocket voiced by Bradley is just another level delivering some super cool punch dialogues.

Movie is a awesome blend of sentiment romance fun comedy and to top it off the soundtrack played in awesome mix volume 1&2are just outstanding.

I never thought Bautista and Chris Pratt can pull it off when I heard the casting of this movie but I stand corrected. Chris with his comical timing just nails his role.

With superhero flicks raising the bar and standards everyday this movie comes as a surprise package and delivers. This is a must watch film because there is never a dull moment in it.

My Verdict : 5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)

Step Up All in — Review

Sharing is Caring !!

Step Up All In

Step Up All in is the fifth installment of the dance/romance themed Step up franchise.

This Movie is all about stars from previous installment joining together to win the competition. Yes same like always and all the movies of this franchise  previously 😛 . But if u think it is like that you are wrong, as the lead cast gives a dialogue that its all about doing what you love and not about competition. Yet they win the competition at the end.

This Movie does have some catchy and acrobatic dance movies. But emotionless cast and dancers who cant act makes this movie less than mediocre. A silly and fully predictable plot is a big minus in this movie. Even scribbles of a kid can make a better movie plot than this one.

If you really want to watch some crazy dance moves and drama along with it, you can turn to reality shows based on dance. This movie is a pure waste of time.

I really hope they shut shop for this franchise as it isn’t going anywhere with stupids sequels like this.

My Verdict: 1 out of 5 stars (1 / 5)

The Memories from Kid within

Sharing is Caring !!

At times we all yonder and ponder that we can get back to our childhood days again so we can be free of all the worldly worries and tension and enjoy the life as a kid.

When ever we think of childhood days the first thing that comes to mind is super cool rhymes . Here are my two favorite rhymes that has left me with lot of memories.

1) Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

This is one of my all time favorite song as it is the first ever song, I learned to play in my piano. So it is always close to my heart.

When we were kids, my parents used to take us to our granny’s place in village every year during our annual leaves. There used to be one traditional rope cot (charpai) lying around. I used to sleep there gazing at the beautiful night sky wondering what its all about and how beautiful the world is. Its a breath taking view with night breeze brushing us and sky acting as a protective blanket and twinkling stars as a night lamp keeping away the dark forces.

Nowadays even when i sleep with the comfort of air conditioners and in a king size bed with glow stickers of stars and moon in the roof, it doesn’t give that warmth and happiness. Growing up i missed the innocence and happiness and got stress and tension instead.

The Last instance when i remembered this rhyme was back in 2012 when i was watching this movie in theater , its a horror film by RGV ‘Bhoot Returns’. In the film the main character will have the same rhyme as a ringtone and the phone will ring at creepy time making this childhood classic a creepy song. Even though the film wasn’t scary, my friend kind of liked the creepy version of the rhyme and kept it as his ringtone for a week or two.

During my college days i just got addicted to movies and after watching lot of movies in all kinda genre, when i think about this rhyme one dialogue from my favorite film CONTACT comes to mind.

” I’ll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It’s bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it’s just us… seems like an awful waste of space. Right? “

2: London Bridge is falling down

This rhyme is an epic and classic one. When i was in school i have seen kindergarten kids singing this song and playing the game where two kids form an arch with hands and others walk through the arch and when they sing “My Fair Lady”, the kid inside the arch gets caught. I vaguely remember myself playing the same game as a kid. But this bought such nostalgia that, we tried this at one of our team outing few years back in office. It was non stop fun 😀

For a 90’s Kid, if we are to be asked about who is the best pop band, all would ever say is Back street boys or westlife .During those adolescence time i stumbled upon the genre called Hip Hop. It gave me new names to rant about like Eminem, Black eyes peas and etc.

Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit !! Yes this is the opening of the song London Bridge by Fergie. The tune was so catchy , even when i dint know/understood the lyrics, this song was on a repeat mode 😛 . And that time London bridge only meant Fergie to me and it wasn’t going to fall down 😀

Those were the days when we wanted to grow up so bad. But now that we have grown up so much all we want is to be a kid again and be carefree , live in their own small world.

As we grow up lot of things change. I wish they didn’t. Still i feel Growing up is by no means
a bad thing. It allows us to make a difference in the world, to find out who we are, and to live the life we imagined as children. We dreamed of growing up when we rested our young heads on our downy pillows and looked up with wonder at the glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to our ceiling, wondering what the world looked beyond our own home, beyond the world that had been so meticulously created for us. Yet upon growing up, we find that reality often contends with those very dreams. We find that the reality of growing up is perhaps less lovely than we’d envisioned. We find that the only thing we really want back is our youth and our innocence, and the cruel irony is that these are the very things that will never return.

“Growing up is losing some illusions, in order to acquire others. – Virginia Woolf”

To sum it all up cherish the good old and fun memories, live in the present to make a better future 🙂

22 Jump Street – Review

Sharing is Caring !!

22 Jump Street is a sequel to the successful comedy film 21 jump Street staring channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.
image

This film also follows the same formula as of its predecessor where our stars in mid thirties go on a undercover mission at a college to bust open the drug mafia.

The chemistry between the Co stars is amazing which is a big positive in this film. There are some fun moments in the film and crazy dialogues which brings laughter to the audience.  Also the typical bikinis and booze is also part of the film.

The fat female villan is totally unfunny and the thing which surprised me was the crazy credits.  So much of creativity oozed in making those awesome credits.

Overall this movie is a one time watch for folks who watch movie to get entertained.

My Verdict :3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

Say no to classroom hunger

Sharing is Caring !!

HUNGER is a universal problem which is faced by millions of people all over the world.
We often seem to append poor people with hunger. But it ain’t right. Not all poor people are hungry but all most all hungry people are poor.

Food is a basic amenity which everyone should possess.  Due to financial difficulties many are left to starve which leads to malnutrition.  This leads children to take up work in order to feed.  Child laborers give up their childhood to feed their families.

Our government came up with the mid day meal scheme to provide free meal for kids in government and government aided schools so they don’t starve and get a good basic education.

My mom being a teacher in a government school in rural slum area, I have witnessed many kids who turn up to school just for getting the free meal.

When I was in school I eagerly wait for the lunch bell to ring,  so me and my friends can share our food, gossip and have loads of fun. And during college days we use to overeat during lunch and take a nap in evening classes.

It is saddening to hear and see that so many kids starve and yet come to learn to shape their future. There are many drastic effects from these hunger. I have heard that people turn to alcohols and cigarettes as it kills the appetite. But it continues and it becomes an addiction.

Now comes a point where we have to think how to stop this and prevent the classroom hunger

  • Write a blog post! Yes you heard it right. Even this post is  for that campaign. Akshaya Patra and BlogAdda together have come up with a campaign where in they will donate food for a child whole year for one blog post.  Why are you waiting? Start blogging now.
  • How much do you think it costs to feed a child for a year?  750/- rupee only.  We spent so much on taking care of our appearance by buying branded apparels, grooming and for maintaining a social status we often give treats and party. If we just take a fraction that and donate 750 bucks or whatever we are capable to Akshaya Patra a child can stay of hunger for a year.

I am going to #BlogToFeedAChild with Akshaya Patra and BlogAdda.

Invest in people and empower them for a better tomorrow!!
