Who is Poor

Sharing is Caring !!

One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“It was great, Dad.”

“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.

“Oh yeah,” said the son.

“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.”

Things Are Not Always as They Seem

Sharing is Caring !!

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room. Instead, the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, “Things aren’t always what they seem.”

The next night, the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest. When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel, How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him,” she accused. “The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die

“Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied. “When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it.” “Then last night as we slept in the farmer’s bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren’t always what they seem.” Sometimes, that is exactly what happens when things don’t turn out the way it seems they should.

The World Remade

Sharing is Caring !!
We humans live in a world which most of us unanimously think as ain’t so perfect. And then I came across this topic in Blogadda today.
It just got me thinking. The only thing came to mind during the thinking process was ‘Its us who belong to the earth and not the other way around. When the world doesn’t even belong to us, how can we call it imperfect?‘ If the world isn’t imperfect, its our thoughts and mentality which is making a perfect habitat an imperfect one.
Why should we change the world to make it a better place when we can change our mindset (imagination) to achieve the same result?
Come let us imagine through the wonderful and thought provoking words of the great John Lennon
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Come join the Dreamers club and let us Enlighten, Illuminate, Educate everyone and remake the world through our thoughts and minds.

Social Media in Mobile VS Web

Sharing is Caring !!

We all live in a world where social media is dominating all aspects of our day to day life. With the emergence of so called smart phones social media rise has peaked and it’s easily available for each and everyone with a mobile in hand.

Even though boom of social media happened through Web now it looks like an outdated old version and Mobiles make it a new updated version which pleases everyone. With mobiles it make social media connections much easier as we can do everything on the go.

Both Official and personal works have become much easier and affordable with the use of mobiles. The Upward graph of the mobile usage has made us all part of the CONNECT CLASS. We stay connected to the world every time we switch on the data in our mobiles.

This has changed the way we think, react and do our deeds.

As the above stats show, the rise and growth is always up, as it impacts all the activities of our day to day life.

Official Deeds:

Most of us configure Official emails in our mobiles and install communicators such as LYNC, CISCO WEBEX and other IM clients which are easily available in app stores. This makes it easy to work from home and stay connected to work environment everywhere. The Email clients also merges the events and meetings to our calender and reminds us with alerts, so we don’t miss any schedule.

Personal Deeds:

Remembering birthdays and anniversary is such a difficult task 😛 But these mobiles just makes it so easy. It just access ones social media profile and adds all such info to calender so we don’t have to miss out a party or forget to wish anyone.

These smartphones opens a new door of easy accessibility. It brings everything to our hands. This is the reason its booming everyday and leaving a huge gap between web usage on desktops/laptops etc.

Mobiles helps us stay connected to the whole wide world through usage of apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, whatsapp, viber, skype etc etc.

PS : I made this post using smartphone on my way home from office. No wonder social media on mobile is going up.

CLEANATHON – Lets make INDIA Cleaner

Sharing is Caring !!

The title of this post might have intrigued you to ask “I am Clean.I am keeping my home clean. Why make India clean?, Isn’t it Government’s Job to keep it clean using taxpayers money?

We the humans can’t stand to see our home/work place dirty or untidy. At least once in a week we mop and clean our house. We take so much care as we spend most of our time there. Similarly INDIA is our home so it becomes our social and civic duty to keep it clean. Public Transports, Parks, roads, railway stations, malls, Bus stops all these are pride of our home called INDIA. These are part of our day to day activity, yet we spit and litter all over as if it doesn’t even matter. And finally we play the blame game and blame it on the Government.

Lately most of us have been either hearing/speaking about the Swachh India and similar campaigns but forget it later after voicing just our opinions. If we want a Change to happen, it has to start within. That is why Gandhi said “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

Now you may ask “How does cleaning it help” ?

Well Cleaning helps in raising awareness about sanitation and hygiene. Cleaning helps to maintain hygiene and prevents us from catching deadly diseases. Yes, being unhygienic can lead to lot of health problems. In Many rural villages there are still no latrines used. Even in developed city like Chennai there aren’t proper disposal of sewage or wastewater. This causes ecosystem for mosquito’s and leads to malaria etc.  When trash is not properly disposed and waste water joins  fresh water, it poisons it and disrupts the balance in nature and causes havoc for other creatures too. So proper cleaning, sanitation and hygiene goes a long way. It creates a ripple effect and creates lots of benefits for us and makes earth sustainable.

Being an ardent fan of Team Arsenal in EPL, I made myself a part of a Community called “Arsenal Chennai Fans Community” in Facebook. It was all fun and troll at the start.  During the FIFA world cup match between Ivory Coast & Japan, something just caught our attention (Not only ours, whole world too). The Japanese fans who came to watch the match, even though their team lost, they stayed and cleaned the whole stands after the match. It was such a wonderful gesture . When ISL came to Chennai, few folks in the community posted about doing the same deed in Chennai Nehru Stadium. Many included me were hesitant to join at first, but it become a huge success with many volunteers joined from second match onwards. Even though I couldn’t join that effort due to work timings and restrictions, I felt really proud seeing my friends and community mates following a good deed and leaving a legacy. I have pledged to myself to take part in such initiatives in future and  it gave me the courage to join a similar initiative in my work place.

A Small spark set by Japanese fans has become a wildfire with so many people following the same.  Let this Cleanathon spark lit up and make way for brighter and cleaner INDIA.

What is Cleanathon?

RB (Reckitt Benckiser) and NDTV have partnered to launch “Dettol – Banega Swachh India” – a 5 year ambitious program to address the rising need of hygiene and sanitation in India.

The campaign will aim at creating awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation, and also work with NGO partners to support infrastructure for construction and maintenance of toilets. Stop Bullying and end Ragging – #AbMontuBolega

Sharing is Caring !!

Bullying and Ragging is so prevalent in India that it is treated as part of school days and colleges. This needs to be removed from the roots. Bullying and Ragging may sound funny and make people laugh, but it leaves scars too deep for the person who is bullied. There are various adverse efforts of bullying . There are also many incidents in the past suggest  that, these have led to such end that people have committed suicide. Let me list down some of the bad effects due to bullying and ragging.

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Feelings of sadness and loneliness
  • Loss of interest in activities
  • Inferiority complexion
  • Feeling isolated even when there is a crowd
  • Spending a lot of time trying to figure out what to do or where to go to avoid being harassed.
  • Thinking your parents would be worried or upset if you told them.
  • Health issues leading to headache and stress
  • Starting to think that maybe the insults are true and wondering if it’s your own fault.
  • Having mood swings.
  • Wishing you could talk to someone but you are not sure what you want to say.
  • Feeling trapped, helpless, withdrawn.
  • Notice that these feelings are causing you to be unhappy at home & you are feeling short tempered with your parents and siblings.

These things can lead to self harm and growing up, it becomes harder to trust others and make new friends. In some extreme cases people become suicidal.

How to Stop This:

It all starts during the adolescence when everyone starts to think how life’s goes on and gets into lots of physical and emotional changes. Life isn’t a bed of roses and has ups and down for everyone. As they say the change must start within, everyone must pledge to keep their well being even when they are going through stress / tension.

  • Keep a role model who you can admire and follow.
  • Reach out to your parents/mentors. They are here to guide & help you.
  • Eat , sleep, play and find balance between all these things.
  • Always look for opportunities to reach your potential.
  • Feel free to express yourself.
  • If you see someone bullying others, don’t be a bystander, act and stop it.

Indian Government has launched  National Anti-Ragging Helpline to prevent this.

  1. Students who are being bullied/ragged can send a mail to  helpline@antiragging.in to register their complaint
  2. There is also a helpline number 1800-180-5522 which can be called at any time to file a complaint

Lets all raise our voice and stop this menace and make India more Cleaner and better.

#AbMontuBolega Campaign:

This is a initiative by Strepsils India to make India cleaner. To achieve this ultimate goal, everyone should voice their opinion and share their part. Just by being a silent spectator or bystander we cant achieve it. So let us use the power of our voice to clean India.

Here we are the Montu who have been a silent spectator till now. We know that raising our voices against all that is dirty in our country is a power that we all have. Let’s exercise the power of our voice & work towards a Swach Bharat.
