Breakfast is mandatory for everyone as it is the one which kick starts our body’s metabolism process. Everyone wants to have a healthy breakfast. Healthy breakfast helps start the day off right. By consuming nutritionally sound breakfast which is packed with protein and fiber, we will inherit the energy to get through the day and receive the satisfaction to hold on over until lunch. However, if breakfast is laden with fat, we will suffer the consequence of a mid-morning energy crash and will probably feel hungry again.

Cornflakes is a popular breakfast option which is also termed to be healthy. One cup of Corn Flakes contains 100 calories, and none of these calories are derived from fat. Per serving, this fat-free and cholesterol-free cereal holds:

  • 200 mg of sodium
  • 25 mg of protein
  • 24 g of carbohydrates
  • 1 g of fiber
  • 2 g of sugar
  • 2 g of protein

The following nutrients are also found in a cup of Corn Flakes:

  • Vitamin A – 10%
  • Vitamin C – 10%
  • Calcium – 0%
  • Iron – 45%
  • Vitamin D – 10%
  • Thiamin (B1 – )25%
  • Riboflavin (B2 ) – 25%
  • Niacin (B3) – 25%
  • Vitamin B6 – 25%
  • Folic Acid (Folate) – 25%
  • Vitamin B12 – 25%

Even though cornflakes are crunchier they doesn’t taste so good if taken alone. For the sake of our taste buds and also to have a healthy breakfast, it will do lot of good, if there are multiple variants or recipes which involves corn flakes. It will not only make the breakfast healthy but also tastier, so everyone can consume something good and different everyday in the morning. This presence of 100 plus recipes involving corn flakes is what making everyone crave for a breakfast at Guptaji’s house. The same holds true to me too.

Keep your stuff safe and secure with best pen drives

Sharing is Caring !!

The Pen Drive, also known as Flash drive/thumb drive is a data storage device that includes flash memory with an integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. These are typically removable and re-writable and physically much smaller than an optical disc. The resurgence of pen drives started with the start of 21st century. During these stages, it kicked out the competitors  floppy disks & CDs as Pen drives are much smaller, faster, have thousands of times more capacity, and are more durable and reliable because they have no moving parts. Additionally, they are immune to electromagnetic interference unlike floppy disks, and are unharmed by surface scratches unlike CDs. Also Pen Drives started to come with more capacity and stylish designs which are way easier to carry around.

The Pen drives were initially used for  storage, data back-up and transfer of computer files. Prices have never been cheaper, and larger capacities are easily available too. If you’re a computer user, you probably have several of them. Apart from using them to just transport your data, there are a myriad other uses for one, as long as you have a one with a decent capacity and speed.

Run Portable Apps

PortableApps is a Windows launcher that can run entirely from your USB drive. What this means is that you can carry a suite of all your favorite applications like Firefox, Chrome, VLC Media Player, Foxit Reader, 7-Zip and more, all on the drive. Plug it into any remote computer and you’ll have all your favorite applications with you. All you have to do is head to the website and download the PortableApps program.

Computer maintenance & troubleshooting

A USB drive can play host to various applications that can help fix, maintain or troubleshoot a computer in need. First, you can start with freely available virus removal tool. Advanced Utilities can be run to do a complete maintenance check (registry clean, removal of temporary files, manage startup programs). Finally, De-Fragmentation apps can be used organize the files for better speed and reliability.

Run an alternate operating system

Linux and various versions of it are available for free. Many versions of Linux are small and light enough to be run completely from a USB drive. This means that you can run and check out Linux for yourself on any existing Windows computer, without making any changes to it! The added advantages of these ‘Live’ builds of Linux is that they have very minimal hardware requirements, which makes them blazing fast, even on older machines.

Automated backup of selected folders

You may have a 500GB hard drive in your computer, but the most important data to you on that drive will be lesser. It could be a folder of your photographs, videos, songs or important documents. Rather than take a complete backup of the drive which is a time-consuming process, you can selectively backup and synchronise certain folders between the hard drive and an external USB Pen drive.

Encrypted Data with self-destruct feature

If you’re paranoid about someone stealing data from your Pen drive, you can secure the data with SafeGuard apps. These apps encrypts data on the drive with advanced encryption. You can assign a password to selected folders or to the entire drive. And we can add a setting to erase the entire contents of the drive if someone enters a wrong password too many times.

Increase performance with Ready Boost

With Windows Vista and Windows 7, if you have a fast enough USB Pen drive, you can use it for Ready Boost. Ready Boost is a feature that uses the space on your USB Pen drive as extra RAM, instantly boosting the overall speed of your Windows system and programs. Not all USB drives are fast enough to be used for Ready Boost. To check, right click on the drive’s icon in My Computer, click Tools and then the Ready Boost tab.

Use it as a ‘key’ to access several PCs

You might have seen this before in the movies; a Pen drive is inserted into a computer and it immediately springs to life. A free application called Predator can be used for exactly the same thing. Download and install Predator, and pair a Pen drive with it. With the Pen drive is plugged in, you can continue to work, but as soon as it is removed, the screen darkens, the computer locks, and keyboard/mouse input is disabled. Plug it back in, and normal usage is restored.

Make a “life-backup”

This can literally be a life saver. Many of us may have not stopped to think about what would happen if we lost all our belongings in a fire, flood or natural calamity. The size and portability of a Pen drive is actually ideal to store digital copies of all your important documents like bank information, credit card details, birth certificates, legal papers, insurance papers and anything else that ties into yours or your family’s life. Be sure to keep one away at in a locker or at a friend’s place in another city for extra peace of mind.

Overall pen drives are mandatory & essential to keep your stuff safe and secure !!

Singapore – Food Paradise

Sharing is Caring !!

Whenever we hear about Singapore, all we could think about is the  shopping malls, Island resorts , universal studios, underwater aquarium, zoological parks  and other such architectural monuments. The one thing that skips everyone’s mind is that Singapore is a food haven. Dining, is said to be the country’s national pastime. The diversity of the food and variety of food representing different ethnicities such as Chinese, Malay, Indian and hybridization of these cuisines has led to multi styles of cuisines under one roof.

Dining along with shopping is one of the Singapore’s best attractions. They also have a Food festival annually to celebrate multiculturalism of Singapore’s cuisine. With availability of local to international cuisines ranging from vegetarian to Halal it would be fitting to call Singapore as FOOD PARADISE.

In this post, I present you some of my favorite dishes from the abundant Singapore cuisines !!

Bak Kut Teh:

This is a traditional soup which is very good for health. It contains multiple herbs and pork ribs. Its taken as a tea regularly in Singaporean households. Its is also very tasty which makes it a must have during Singapore visit.

Kaya Toast and Soft-boiled Eggs:

This plated art is a traditional Singaporean breakfast. It includes bread loaf, lathered with coconut and covered with layers of melted butter. Its so tasty you will feel like floating in heaven.

Mie goreng:

 photo b54bc9a6.jpg

This is a classic. This fried noodles with its garish red appearance not only tastes spicy, it looks spicy too. With tomatoes, egg, green chilies, mutton mince, cabbage and diced potatoes it does make everyone salivate.

Murtabak:

These super-sized flat breads are  stuffed with minced mutton and onions. It is often fried in a pool of ghee or oil. Chicken and sardine versions of Murtabak are also available for those who find mutton too gamey. Its the one to turn too when you are too hungry. A perfect afternoon meal 🙂

Roti prata & its Variations:

This is most commonly available in Singapore. Its usually served with curry. Nowadays people are getting so creative with all kinds of fillings and combinations — cheese, mushroom, durian, ice cream, honey, banana, cashew nuts, and even sardines. It offers multiple variations to the original Roti Prata. Some variations such as Chicken Floss Prata, Red Bean Prata, Prata Benedict, Roti Plaster are both mouthwatering and delicious.

Ais kacang:

When it comes to desserts, nothing can beat Ais kacang. A grinding machine is used to produce the shaved ice mountain on top of a bowl of assorted ingredients like red bean, palm seed, agar agar jelly, chendol, grass jelly or any other filling desired. Evaporated or condensed milk is then drizzled on the top along with red rose syrup to produce the multi-coloured effect.

Sharing is Caring

Sharing is Caring !!

We live in the modern world, the 21st century where everyone talks about equalities in everything. But we forget the most common statement “The change must first come from within the individual, only then can he or she attempt to make a significant contribution to humanity“. Recent researches suggest that even now women engage in lions share of housework despite the raise in working women. This not only happens in rural village areas, this is common everywhere even in developed metropolitan cities.

The domestic household chores, such as cooking, cleaning, washing, food shopping, taking care of sick relatives & elderly are labelled as women’s work in our society. These Gender inequalities are deep rooted in social structures and also in people’s attitudes. These thoughts are so deep rooted, that even many women think its their primary job to do the household chores. These stuffs adds a lot of burden to working women, as they have to manage both personal and professional life within a smaller time frame which adds to stress and health deterioration.

Growing up in a family with two sisters, my parents always used to say ‘Sharing is Caring’, ‘Share everything equally with your sisters’. Sharing makes the world a better place. It makes two souls happier. The person sharing the load/helping others will feel better for doing a good deed. The person receiving the help will also feel better because they realize there are actually people who care about them. Sharing is very important in relationships too. It makes people come closer.  It brings harmony and peace among the people.

With Changing times, many men have voiced their support to Sharing the load. Its shouldn’t just end with raising their opinions, men should pull their weight more and share the load. To show my support, I took part in the Ariel #WashBucketChallenge this week to #ShareTheLoad of household chores and reduce the burden on my mom.

Here is me helping in household chores!!

Ariel two

That smile from MUM seeing me doing the laundry, so she can take a nap/ spend time watching her favorite soap opera — PRICELESS. I will #SHARETHELOAD again & again as Laundry is not a women’s job, its meant to be shared 🙂

Family is all about loving, caring and sharing. So lets take a pledge and share the load and lessen the burden on our mothers, sisters and better halves.

Together forever

Sharing is Caring !!

As I mentioned in my previous post I had to make a tough choice for a new dawn and a new start to my life. That choice led me to Mumbai. When I started the journey to Mumbai I was thinking about the friends I am leaving behind as I won’t be having any of them by my side in Mumbai. Being an introvert it was tough making friends. But it all changed. Before starting to Mumbai I got in touch with fellow new joiners who are traveling from Chennai to Mumbai through Orkut group of our company. During the flight journey we spoke to each other and get to know each other. After landing in Mumbai we went to the allocated guest house.

In that guest house (Apartments to be precise) there was a flat with three bed rooms which was allotted to myself and 5 others. Our flat had people from Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. During the course of three months stay, we become closer like a family. We roamed Mumbai together and had so much fun. Those moments will remain in hearts for eternity.

Time came for placement in project as training got completed after three months. Among the six of us four got project in Bangalore and remaining two got projects in Mumbai itself. The togetherness continued in Bangalore as we stayed under a single roof for two years. Whenever we get an opportunity we try to get together and meet the Mumbai guys. Everyone with different dreams stayed together and chased the Dreams together. Even though we worked in different projects we helped each other during difficulties and encouraged everyone and acted as the source of optimism and motivation. During difficulties lots of people will come forward and share their advices. But only true friends remain together and lend their shoulder and hand. Its that small act of being together gives the little nude which used to get us back in the game. As times passed by, we took our own paths and shifted companies, but we never felt alone, because we were still together in our thoughts.

Recently we planned for a get together in Goa (Bachelor’s party) as one of our Gang member (Badmash Company as we were called during our training days :P) was getting married. It bought back so many good memories. At present most from our group are in onsite and every one is settled and at the last leg of fulfilling their dreams. This happened because we stayed together.

Life as a journey is never traveled alone. We are always together with someone. It can be family , friends, relatives . So never let go of the togetherness. Only it can lead to happiness and success.

A new dawn

Sharing is Caring !!

It was August 2010, I had completed my engineering and got placed in a reputed MNC during on campus interview. The placement happened way back in march. But I dint get a call up when to join the office premises. As it was holidays sort of days, me and my family went to Goa for a family picnic. When we got down at airport and took out our baggage, I got a phone call from a land line number from Mumbai. The conversation went like this.

Caller: Hello ! Am i speaking to MR. Daniel Mangalraj?

Me: Yes. This is Daniel. Who is this?

Caller: Hi Daniel. This is Swarna calling from Patni Computers, Mumbai.

Me: yes ! tell me

Caller: As you are aware you got placed in our company during the campus visit. I would like to inform you that your training would start from September second week here in Mumbai. I have mailed you with all the details. Reply back with your confirmation.

Me: MUMBAI ? Patni is also in chennai right? Can you please let me join in Chennai as I have never stepped out of my hometown alone.

Caller: Daniel, we cant provide such options for each individual. It would be against our policy. Let me know your confirmation by end of the week either by call or email.

Me: OK thanks.

Then I shared the news with my parents who were by my side in airport. They were shocked. As I have never been out of my home town before all alone, they said, no need to go, You can try some other job here itself. All during the tour I was thinking about that only. I don’t want to let go of the opportunity. I thought that would be a new adventure in my life and wanted to take the risk. Also the company is one of the top MNC in India. So I dint want to let go of this. I took the decision of joining in Mumbai and going there alone. for the next whole week, I convinced my parents to accept it.

I dropped an email to HR about my joining, even before my parents said YES. I was confident that I will get an approval from them. They were stubborn for a while. But eventually came to agreement, as I was adamant because its my life.

September came very fast and it was time to bid goodbye. Even though it was a short span of three months. It was very challenging and new for me. I had to adjust myself to the new food, language and make all new friends.  It seemed tough at first but it all came easy. I had the time of my life during the training period, made so many good friends and carried lot of awesome memories back home.  Time went by and my job has taken me to many new places and given me new adventures. Without this first one and the bold step, I wouldn’t have gotten the confidence and these adventures in my life so far.

So #StartANewLife and new beginning with new dawn !!

Car Buying Advice for Pre owned Cars in Delhi

Sharing is Caring !!

We all realize that the Pre-owned car business is a major one in India at this moment. There are heaps of advancements that have added to this bloom lately. Individuals are relentlessly discovering used cars an incredible and potent solution for their necessities. A considerable measure of it needs to do with the present monetary situation. Despite the fact that inflation has been controlled to some degree, costs are still on the higher side so are expenses of living. With rise in expenses of living, keeping up and acquiring a new car can prove too expensive for people.

Therefore, people in metropolitan urban communities are ready to take the Pre owned cars. The used car phenomenon is on the rise as numerous dealerships for used cars are getting opened in urban areas. Owing to the demand, even car manufacturers are opening used car dealerships of their own.

The rise of these used car phenomenon can be tied to following reasons.

  • Extensively lower costs
  • No registration or tax charges
  • No extra insurance costs
  • Absence of loan hassle and steep EMIs
  • Easy installments offered by dealerships

If you purchase online, you may well save this additional money that goes into the dealer’s pocket. After all, the dealer is purchasing the vehicle from the original owner for a specified sum of money and then selling it to you at a considerably higher amount to make a profit out of the deal. This is the basic mechanism behind the functioning of used car dealerships. Online purchases can take such expenses out of the equation altogether. How do you purchase used cars online? Many people often shy away from online purchases owing to their unfamiliarity with the medium at large.

However, the process is extremely user friendly and will not take up too much time or energy on your part. All you need to do is log on to online classifieds portals for buying a used car in Delhi or search for ‘car for sale in delhi‘ ads online. This will help you narrow down your search and give you a bird’s eye view of what is currently available for the taking. Once this is done and you have zeroed in on a few models that you are interested in, you have to browse through the advertisements carefully. You will find contact details of sellers listed in their advertisements in most cases. Get hold of the same and contact these sellers without any further ado. In case contact details are not directly mentioned in an advertisement, you can simply reply to the posted advertisement directly with your desires and requirements. This process is hassle free and will get you in direct touch with the seller. There is no middleman involved and you will always be able to get the best possible price for your car at all times.

In addition, you can also bargain with sellers for lower prices and may end up with lucrative discounts on the original prices stated by them. This depends on your bargaining ability and your own luck of course! If you are not satisfied with the available second hand cars on offer in your city, you can consider posting an advertisement stating your own needs and requirements. This advertisement should ideally contain all your own information including name, address and contact number. You should mention the car model and make that you desire and of course, the basic features you expect the used car to possess. Finally, you should mention your desired budget range. This advertisement will enable sellers in your location to contact you immediately and work out a great deal.

Posting advertisements is a great way to get results in super quick time. You can post advertisements without paying a single penny and still get results. However, if you are really pressed for time and want super quick, guaranteed results, you can opt for the premium advertisement system. This only requires you to shell out a nominal amount of money and your advertisement automatically reaches out to more viewers as a result. This is one of the biggest benefits of online classifieds portals.

Firstly, you should always endeavor to check out the car in question before finalizing the deal. Always take along a qualified mechanic or a friend who is an expert when you go to inspect the car for the very first time. Taking the car on a test drive is highly recommended as this will give you a feel of the same and help you make your decision faster. Make it a point to get the car checked thoroughly with a view towards ferreting out any possible hidden malfunctions or defects that might plague you in the future. This approach will always help you steer clear of any possible mishaps with regard to a malfunctioning or broken down car.

Have a positive attitude towards minor issues. If certain problems can be fixed easily and at low costs, you can in turn use the same to bargain for a lower price with the used car seller. This is one strategy that has worked wonders for many people and many well help you get a better deal on your purchase. Buying used cars for sale is a breeze on online classifieds portals. This is the most cost effective, user friendly and hassle free solution available to you in this regard. Use these portals wisely and reap a multitude of benefits!

Looking UP

Sharing is Caring !!

Life is full of ups and downs. And only when we go down, we look up for some miracle/hope to inspire us and to fill us with positivity. Same happens in everyone’s life.  This is one such incident which describes how I looked up for hope and what inspired me and filled me with optimism during an adversity.

It was February 2010 , I was in my final year of college. It was time for campus interviews. The company schedule was announced and around 10 companies were visiting our college in the span of 1 month. To get a reputed name from these MNCs our college started giving coaching classes on how to clear the interview rounds such as aptitude test, group discussion, technical and HR rounds. As everyone was preparing vigorously to get placed during college days itself, I too started studying and preparing myself for these interviews.

Days passed and it was time for the first interview. The very first company was HCL and we were all asked to assemble in the lab. There were three rounds to clear. First one was aptitude and folks clearing it was asked to sit in 5 member group for a group discussion. I cleared both of these with ease. Next came the technical round. A Panel of 3 members were sitting inside staff room in our lab. There were five such panels during the interview. One by one students were called upon according to their roll numbers. One of my friend came out with a very bright smile after his interview in just 2 or 3 minutes. When we asked what questions were asked he replied like ‘whats your name? tell about yourself, why did you chose this college?‘. Clock was ticking and I was eagerly waiting for my chance to come. Most of the out coming students were coming with a smile because of the simple questions they faced in interview.

After a long wait my time finally came, I went in and shook hands with the 3 panelists. They asked to introduce myself. As I was introducing myself, one of the panel member got a call and he left. The other guy was sipping his coffee with biscuits. The remaining panelist took my resume and started to go through it. He stumbled upon my final year project. As it was done using JAVA APPLETS, he started asking questions regarding it. After my answer, he provided a paper and a pen and asked to write a sample program using applet . I took some time and finished my sample program. He reviewed it and asked me to write the same program using C++. I was trying to gather my old learning’s and code it, but couldn’t complete it. So he asked can you write it in C# or C? As I was aware of C# I wrote the program in C# and immediately presented the paper for review. Then he asked some technical questions and I answered all of it. Then he shook my hands & said you did great !

As I got a positive comment, I was hoping to get placed. Even staffs and friends congratulated me after I told them about it. I couldn’t sleep the whole night, as they mentioned results would be announced tomorrow. Next day to my shock , my name was absent in the placed candidate list. I was so depressed and sad and staffs were consoling me by saying ‘That panel might have been a rejection panel. They would have already selected the numbers they came for.’

Due to that depression, I skipped meals and dint come out of the house even during weekends. Next week another MNC was scheduled to visit our campus for interview. I was thinking to skip it blaming my luck. That Saturday afternoon, the door bell rang. My mom went to open the door. It was my moms friends from next street. They both work in a private school near by for the past 10+ years. She came with sweets as she got a government job in her late forties.  Her kids already got married and well settled, but still she tried for the government job as it was her dream from childhood and finally it came true after 40+ years of wait.  That incident stuck like a jolt to me . I got up and started preparing more rigorously for the next interview.  And I got placed in that Company which became my first Company 🙂
