My Family My Pride

Growing up we always look up for inspiration. Without inspiration there wont be any aspiration. And without aspiration there wont be any success. From a kids perspective, world is a very small circle called family and inspiration should come from it. Same thing happened with me and I AM WHAT I AM NOW all because of my family. They inspired me and helped me to aspire and achieve success.

As famous poet Maya Angelou says “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” We only look at the success of others but not the path and acts they took to get there. I got inspired by looking at the path and acts which made my parents successful. And all credits should go to them for guiding and encouraging me to grow into a better, more self-reliant person.

Let me turn the clock back as its time for a flashback 🙂

I have been an introvert and shy from my childhood. So most of the time I used to spend my time alone playing with handheld video games. Due to its addiction my dad bought me a computer at a tender age of 11 ( Time has changed and now even toddlers use computer but for a 80’s kid like me that was huge at that time). All the neighboring kids would be playing cricket in ground and I would be playing minesweeper and pinball. Then came the craze of age of empires. I used to sit day and night to clear levels and complete missions in it. They enrolled me to a computer class in a nearby academy. Owing to my increased addiction to my PC, they even bought a dial up connection. At first I used it to play online flash games and stuff. But then I started learning many things from the internet. I learned hacking, made my own websites using yahoo Geo services, started blogging and all of this before I even started college. I even earned some money online during those days. They backed up me up in all things and it led me choose a career in computer science engineering.

My dad also used to bring English movie DVD’s for us to watch. It helped me and my sis to get a good grasp in English from a very young age. They also enrolled us in Hindi classes after school as extra curricular activities. When I got my first job, they asked to attend the training in Mumbai. If my parents dint enroll me during my childhood days, I would have lacked the confidence to say YES during the interview and wouldn’t have got the job in the first place.

By doing the above stated things my Dad a self made man himself, guided and encouraged me to grow into a better and independent individual.

We always want the bigger and better things in life. Same applies for vehicles such as Cars too. People with Hatchbacks long for a sedan and people with sedan long for a SUV and it goes on and on. The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After the people had left, the crow approached the peacock. “Dear peacock,” the crow said, “you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet.”

The peacock replied, “I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happy bird on the planet. But because of my beauty, I am entrapped in this zoo. I have examined the zoo very carefully, and I have realized that the crow is the only bird not kept in a cage. So for past few days I have been thinking that if I were a crow, I could happily roam everywhere.”

Moral: We make unnecessary comparison with others and don’t value what we have. Have a Life ahead valuing the things God has given us. Happiness is being yourself, whatever you are.

Festivals offer time for family, relatives and friends to get together, share sweets, gifts and enjoy. Holi the festival of colors is just two weeks away and I am yet complete my colorful shopping. I have lot of things to shop which includes apparels for family and gifts for family, relatives and close friends.

Being a lazy bum, I have embraced online shopping with both hands just like everyone else in the world. Online shopping in India has grown leaps and bounds over the last few years. There are so much options to buy something, as same product is offered by multiple sites. I have been shopping online since 2009. And over the years I have visited various sites, but the ones that stand out among the rest are

Flipkart
Ebay
Amazon
Jabong
Myntra

These shopping portals offers various coupons and deals to beat out the competition. Before shopping I wanted to check the best offers and deals available in these sites to prioritize and buy the best deal possible for my budget.

Upon searching in Google I came across a site named 27coupons.com, which seem to contain all such deals and offers from various site in one place. I was amazed to see everything at a single place. I immediately bookmarked it. I thought to myself “This is the perfect site which everyone should check before getting into online shopping”.

The site had various options to get the perfect deal for me. It has separate tabs to choose coupons,bank related offers, deals and category wise option. Its time to shift from apparel shopping to gifts. As I was thinking to get a couples watch for my parents and few good reads for my bookworm sister, I searched for similar offers in 27coupons. It showed some bunch of offers, but the stand out was flipkart again with massive discounts on both books and watches.

So I returned to flipkart to complete my Holi shopping. All thanks to 27coupons for giving me huge savings !!

Years ago Cricket was labelled as the gentleman’s game, may be it was right because at that time glamour and cricket were like opposite poles. Over the time, playing technique as well as the trends kept changing. Nowadays cricket is no more just a gentleman’s game but it has become more stylish and glamorous one. With the changing mindset, players also start engaging in off the field activities which offers monetary benefits such as signing for TV commercials, brand ambassadors etc. So, the game as well as the players got more trendy and stylish.

From flaunting flat abs to changing cool hair styles, fashion has evolved leaps and bounds in cricket. Gone are the days when cricketers dint care about their external appearance. No wonder Bollywood sensation Anushka Sharma is in love with him 🙂

As being stylish can get many fans as well as PRs running behind them to do advertisement for brands, new breed of cricketers are enhancing their fashion statement up a notch than what used to be years ago !!

This definitely proves Cricketers has becomes more and more fashion conscious over the years !!

We always face situations in our life and scream out loud WHY ME/ WHY ALWAYS ME ?

And most of us don’t get an answer to it.

Let me state a short story which will answer this question !!

A frustrated guy goes to nearby church and starts shouting, “Why always me, God,why me?”.

A blind person just beside him assertively says, “Thank you God.”

Engineer – “Why do you thank him, he made you blind, you can’t see, any beautiful thing in life”

Blind person – “Can you? “

It may be a short story, but the message embedded in it is very huge. We always think about how bad everything is and forget all the good things.

Remember happiness in life lies in smaller things !!

Bedtime Rituals

Well, I could relate to few of the pleasant moments I had shared with my niece when she was just a baby.

It was almost 4 years back. Being part of an MNC working in a UK Shift I would always reach home around 1:30 AM in the night.

Initially I used to feel bad of coming back so late as I had to wake my parents up at middle of the night, But chose to live with it as its part and parcel of the job.This turned out to be a pleasantry nights when my sister came home for her child delivery. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and then on-wards, the nights were amazing.

Reason?

My niece use to sleep in the morning and would be awake in the middle of the night. In fact she made it a habit in such a way that as soon as she hears the sound of the vehicle outside the door, she woke up and starts playing. Since my Mom and my Sis used to take care of her in the morning, they will be exhausted by night. That gave me complete freedom of taking care of her. I quickly finish my dinner and used to play with her for some time. Then I make her sleep by putting her gently on the lap. Initially, when she was a baby, she use to go to sleep quickly but after 3 months or so, the gentle shake did not get much effect and she refused to sleep. I had to increase the speed in order to make her sleep and she slept happily.

As far as my knowledge goes, she had never cried for any inconvenience or for hunger. During weekends, It took longer time in make her sleep. Till then,I used to sing lullabies and also use to make some action with my hands which was more than enough to make her feel tempted and happy.

When she grew up, she had always used to stare at us when we had ice cream or any colorful food items and she indirectly made gestures with her mouth and ever since, we made it a point of not eating anything awesome in front of her. She was also so naughty that when we use to watch television, she also tried to rotate her head to stare at television. For her sake, we even stopped watching television when she was awake.

Though these were few things we cannot live without in our day to day life, when one has a baby at home, sacrifices becomes a common scenario and you do it with utmost happiness because it is a “PLEASANT PAIN” and you would never mind sacrificing your television, food, time or just anything else. I am sure, you all will agree with me 🙂

Well here is my response:

1) Send this resignation letter to my BOSS

Dear Mr. Boss:

I’m thrilled to inform you that I’m resigning.

I have been waiting for what seems like forever to inform you that I’m resigning. I’ve hated working for the company since the day I was hired. I don’t like the work, I don’t like my fellow employees, and I don’t like you.

I am tendering my resignation effective immediately and I know you would like me to help you with a transition, but I won’t. Have fun figuring out the files on my computer. I can’t even figure them out most of the time.

Oh, speaking of computers, you’ll need to figure out the passwords to all our online resources. I forgot to keep a list of them, so have fun with that.

I’m sure you’d like to have a going away party for me. However, I’m not interested in stupid story about how cool the ambiance is in that restaurant where you went earlier.

Don’t worry about writing me a reference, even though I’m sure you’d be glad to recommend my work. I don’t need or want one. I don’t need references where I’m heading. So, consider our bridges burnt.

Traveling around the world is the best activity that will expose me to new cultures, broaden my mind, help me move out of comfort zone, allow me to meet new people, and experience the wonders & beauty of the world.

As I listed in one of my previous post, I would love to visit and explore Melbourne to travel in a hot air balloon. It would give a splendid birds eye view of the beautiful valley beneath.

4) Do public speaking in front of 1,000+ people

Speaking before a crowd has always been my fear. I get lot of sweats before getting on to a stage. Even though its highly tough from my perspective, still its one of the most exciting things to do in a lifetime. Not only does addressing a large crowd help to train me in my communication and body language, I also get the opportunity to share a message I care about to a large crowd of people, hence getting the opportunity to impact their lives.

5) Throw a Super Cool Party

Being an ardent Hollywood fanatic, I have always wondered about throwing a wild house party like they do it in movies. Non stop fun with music, games, pranks, drinks and enjoyment.

Well these points may seem like an impossible dream, but it can turn to reality if I can stay #BefikarUmarBhar.
