My Perfect Vacation

My Idea of Perfect/Ideal Vacation (Yatra) is one where I get out of the normal life and spent my time trekking in Himalayas saying goodbye to social life and connectivity and get one on one with nature and its beauty. I choose Hampta Pass trek in Himachal as my perfect vacation as it is tailor made for those looking to experience the high Himalayan adventure which comprises of pine forests, open meadows, glacial valleys and adventurous crossings that leaves the heart pumping.

As I have to travel from Chennai and there are no direct Flights/ Trains available to Manali, I have to check the Flight Schedule and choose the one from Chennai to Delhi. I can reduce the time at airport by using Jet Airways Web check-in . From Delhi I can take Volvos / Car according to my preference and reach the destination.

The Complete Trek Itinerary starts after reaching Manali and it is given as below.

Day 1: Arrival day (Explore Manali)

Arrive at Manali any time.
Take up a hotel room and stay.
Use the evening in Manali for some shopping.

Day 2: Manali to Jobra

Take bus from Manali to Jobra.
Jobra is an hour away from Manali.Have breakfast at Jobra and start the trek by nine am.
The trek starts amidst Maple trees and goes on along the ranee Nala.
Take off your shoes and hop across the Rani Nala if you wish to feel the icy cold water.

Day 3: Jobra to Balu Ka Gera

The trail stays on the banks of the watercourse for most a part of the day.
The initial climb involves a lot of boulder hopping.
Walk along the ranee watercourse into a depression dotted with small multi colored flowers till you reach Balu Ka Gera.
Balu Ka Gera is a level ground created of the sand and dirt brought down by the watercourse.
Pitch your tents and camp at Balu Ka Gera, 11,000 feet above ocean level.

Day 4: Balu Ka Gera to Shea Goru via Hampta pass

The trail from Balu Ka Gera to Shea Goru is very steep with sharp descent.
The trail moves on the watercourse that is lined with flowers which of color yellow and pink.
If you trek during summer, you will notice plenty of snow, else you may see many snow patches.
There are 2 steep climbs over ridges before you reach Hampta pass.
Hampta pass at 14,000 feet is pretty windy and sudden rains or snow additionally cannot be dominated out.
The descent to Shea Goru from the pass is slightly tricky. Sliding down the snow may be associate degree possibility.
You will reach Shea Goru in couple of hours.
Camp overnight beside the watercourse at Shea Goru.

Day 5: Shea Goru to Chatru

It is a mild downhill walk to Chatru, with a few tricky sections.
The trail continue on the watercourse, and there are few large glacial flows down the mountain aspect
Camp at Chatru where few water streams flow through the meadows. Chatru is a beautiful inhabitancy spot with beautiful mountain views.
It will take you regarding 4-5 hours to succeed in Chatru from Shea Goru.
Camp overnight at Chatru.

Day 6: Departure day (Chatru to Manali)

Depart from Chatru to Manali early morning by shared cabs.
It will take around 5 hours to reach Manali which mainly depends on the condition of the roads.

Then its Volvo to Delhi and catch a flight to be back home in a week with wonderful memories to cherish for lifetime !!

I for one feel good music is mostly down the lyrics behind the song. As I was bored laying in the bed wasting my weekend I tried to merge both the powerful lyrics from some of my favorite songs with some awesome pictures.
The result was Boom!!! Magic!!

Real men do their own laundry

Last year An Indonesian sports apparel company named Salvo Sports on their new jersey model released for a football team added the wordings inside the label “Give this jersey to your woman. IT’S HER JOB” as a tip for wash care. It backfired so massively and they were made to apologize publicly and later released a statement.

The statement came as follows

The message is simply ‘rather than fussing and washing wrongly, it is better to let the women do it as they understand the problem better’. There is no intention at all to insult women. In fact it’s the contrary, (telling men to) learn how to take care of their clothing from women as they are more thorough.Not all men understand or know how to take care of their clothing, women are experts in such matters.

This incident proves not only in INDIA , these gender prejudices exist worldwide and most of the people think women are meant to do the cooking and laundry work, while men are to earn and provide for the family.

Recent shift in growth of society as a whole is mainly due to the emergence of gender equality & women getting equal opportunities in workplace etc.

Multiple surveys show statistics such as ‘70% of married Indian women feel they spend more time on household work than with their husbands‘ ,’ 76% of Indian men believe laundry is a woman’s job‘ ,’85% of working Indian women feel they have two jobs, one at work and the other at home‘,’more than 2/3^rd of Indian men prefer to watch TV than do the laundry‘,’more than 2/3^rd of married Indian women believe their marriage would be happier if the man did the laundry at home‘ . Incidents such as above and these survey results show that why as a society we are not moving forward and just going backwards.

Why go backwards? Just be a real men, #ShareTheLoad and lets move forward as a nation!!

Happier household is one where all responsibilities are shared. Sharing is caring. So lets take a pledge , Share the load and lessen the burden on the women of our family and make them smile.

It is exactly 5 years back on 27th of September my journey with IT industry started. I was a fresher who wanted to spread my wings and had a dream of roaming the whole world and leave my mark in the world. Fresh from the campus after completing the engineering course, I chose to follow my dreams and stepped into the unknown far away from home. The Journey took me to Mumbai , Bangalore and Hyderabad where I spent my next 2 and half years combined making loads of friends having fun and exploring multiple cultures and places. I got a new perspective in life and learned lot by being independent. Life was full of fun and entertainment.

As they say “grass is always greener on the other side” all of my friends started looking for better opportunities as they grew tired of being in a single firm for more than two years. I too got into the fad and started looking for greener pastures. When I told my parents about the job search, they asked me why don’t you search in Chennai and come live with us. Even though I stayed in touch with my family and friends through calls, social media on daily basis but still it felt like something was always missing. So I attended few telephonic interviews for Chennai Jobs. Still I was hesitant as my friends were searching jobs in Bangalore as it hosts various opportunities with much better pay for the technology which I specialized in. Within a week or two I got a job offer from a very big product based company in Bangalore for a sum which just took my breath away. The very next day I got a decent offer in Chennai and the work location just 15 minutes from my home. I was not sure of which way to go as one would lead me to more money and other would take me home. I called my dad and asked for advice. He told “Its your life choose whichever you like but don’t regret later that you missed an opportunity”.

All my friends advised to take the job in Bangalore as it was dream job with premium pay scale which according to them it would elevate the happiness. Money is a very powerful thing, it builds empires and breaks down kingdoms, it allows for dreams to come true and it takes others away, it makes some people happy and others completely miserable. As today the pursuit of money is almost directly linked to the pursuit of happiness, many will argue that money = happiness, I also thought to do the same.

Then I called my mom. She told “If you have got an offer in Chennai why thinking about something else, come immediately.” I could recall the voice breaking when my dad said to follow my dream even though he secretly wanted me to come home. And later when I was going through my mail, I saw one from lifehack.org which was like a savior to me. It was about “how money cant buy you happiness and you yourself can define your happiness and it lies in satisfaction”. It just left me in deep thinking. That was the #SachchiAdvice which has shaped my life and made me what I am today.

For the past two and half years I have been staying with my family without any regrets and waking up to Bed coffee and getting breakfast, dinner and lunch on time and delivered to where I am 😛 ! I can happily say that I don’t have to wake my self anymore using the sound of alarm everyday 😛 ! Here is a little #SachchiAdvice from my end to you which can change your life just like it did for me !!

Life is really short so instead of spending most of the time brainlessly chasing money you should start from the little things that make you happy.

Comedy, especially stand-up comedy, regularly draws criticism for being offensive and for perpetuating negative stereotypes. This, however, is a sign of a healthy comedy culture because it means that comedians are pushing social boundaries. Stories and expressions that are normally unacceptable are met with laughter and agreement when they are told on stage. The fact that the content is encrusted in humor is like a sugar coating to bitter medicine. The laugh takes away the sting.

Laughter is a beautiful expression. A good joke provides tension, and then acts as an release of that tension. Tension is built by saying things that are controversial. The release is the laugh. The bigger the surprise or insight in the joke, the bigger the laugh. The beautiful thing about humor, because it’s subjective, what is funny to one person can be offensive to another. I strongly believe stand up comedy is one of the most powerful tools and venues to educate, heal, incite, and make people ponder about ideas and things beyond themselves.

Advertisements – The Good Bad And the Ugly

Advertisements or commercials are normally the things which we love to hate. Because they pop up unannounced when we are immersed into the TV watching a high intensity match or a climax of a movie. Most of us use it as the time to skip through channels to find anything interesting is being shown in other channels. But there are some ads which are either made so cleverly or so dumb, that we cant get it off our mind. In this post I will list down some of those ads which fall in that category.

If you are from the 90’s you would remember this ad which is shown repeatedly in Doordarshan every five minutes when there is a break. Even though its made decently to convey the message, the jingle at the end “Vajrudanti vajrudanti vicco vajrudanti vicco powder vicco paste …” keeps ringing in your head and repeated hearing may even lead to insomnia 😛 ! I don’t know why even today they use this same jingle in their commercials 🙁

Well as I spoke about Jingle, there is one which became so close to heart and finally a ringtone for millions of Indians. Its none other than the Airtel Ad featuring Music maestro AR RAHMAN. The Music was godesque and so soothing to hear.

There are some wonderful commercials which shows the world, how advanced we have become in technology and other areas. This ad from Hyundai creating and delivering Message to space is surely an achievement, we can be proud of !!

As humans we always look for inspiration to motivate us. And there are some commercials which within their limited 1 or 2 minutes time, touch our deepest part of the heart and leave us inspiring !

Well when you think of corporates and conglomerates there are always rivals and competitors. And some of them come up with brilliant and funny ads to showcase their brand has more value than its rivals.

Kellogg’s Waale Guptaji ka Nashta

I recently came across the video which shows everyone (from kids to grannies) was wanting to go to Guptaji’s House for Nashta (Breakfast).

As there was no mention of what the breakfast was all about, I started to Google to find an answer (As all software engineers do :P). By searching I came across the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/anaajkanashta which led me to all the secret breakfast recipes in Guptaji’s house. It hosted more than 100 delicious recipes which made my mouth watery & stomach feel hungry.
